factual entertainment. "You Be The Judge" is an alternative

Commissioned by Jo Clinton Davis,
BBC Factual Entertainment Commissioning Editor, "You Be The
Judge" will take a variety of cases and provide a resolution
for those involved with the help of legal advisors. Talent
Television's recently appointed Director of Entertainment Mark
Linsey is executive producer and Barbara Lee is producer.
The primetime special, which has been adapted from a
format created by Hong Kong-based media mogul, Robert Chua,
and represented by Distraction Formats, is due to broadcast in
Spring 2005. The real-life disputes will be wide ranging but
all will offer a solution to members of the public who feel
they have suffered an injustice.
Civil disputes are a
national epidemic: over back fences, across driveways, at home
and in the office, thousands of people are involved in bitter
arguments, be it financial, professional or domestic. "You Be
The Judge" is offering people who are passionate in their
views and frustrated by their situation a chance to voice
their opinion in order to get justice - decided by the most
objective jury in the land... The Great British Public.
This is the latest in a raft of new commissions for
Talent TV and reflects the company's continued growth and
commitment to producing quality entertainment programming.
Recent commissions include Made in LA for Sky One, a
second series of Casino Casino for Challenge TV, a
second series of Best of Friends for CBBC, and
several international deals.
Mark Linsey, Director of
Entertainment at Talent Television, said: "You Be the
Judge is a brand new idea and we are delighted that BBC One
had the confidence to commission the show. It will be a lively
and informative programme offering real people with real
problems the chance to air their grievances."
