Senior government officials and entertainment celebrities have been paying tribute to the actress, Lydia Shum, who has died at the age of 60. The Chief Executive, Donald Tsang, said he'd been saddened by her death. He said that the people of Hong Kong had grown up to the sound of her laughter, and described her resolve in fighting cancer as representative of the Hong Kong spirit. Robert Chua - a long-time friend - described her as a 'TV national treasure.' Mr Chua was the production manager for TVB in 1967, when he signed her for the station's variety show 'Enjoy Yourself Tonight.' Ms Shum had worked at the station ever since. Mr Chua said he'd been shocked and saddened by her death, because he thought she had been making a recovery.
