New Members Appointed to Banff Television Foundation's Board of Governors

 

(Banff, Alberta, Canada, January 21, 2002)  Pat Ferns, president and CEO of the Banff Television Foundation, announces the appointment of 12 new members to the Foundation’s international Board of Governors. Representing a mix of broadcast, film, television and production interests from six countries, the new governors are:

The Board of Governors is composed of industry professionals from around the world who serve as an advisory council to the Foundation’s Leadership Committee and staff. Currently there are 71 members on the Board (see attached list). Each year the Board is responsible for choosing the recipients of two of the top awards presented annually at the Banff Television Festival. These are the Global Television Outstanding Achievement Award, which will be presented to A&E Television Networks this year, and the Sonic Foundry Outstanding Technical Achievement Award to be announced in late February.

 

The first meeting of the Board took place today in Las Vegas during the annual NATPE convention.

 

Assuming the role of new chair of the Board of Governors is Trina McQueen, vice chair of CTV Inc. Ms. McQueen recently completed a three-year term as chair of the Board of Directors of which she has been a member of for the past 13 years. She now replaces Arthur Weinthal of Crescent Road Productions Limited who was made an honorary director of the Foundation this past June in recognition of his lengthy and distinguished service, which also included a term as chair of the Foundation’s Board of Directors.

 

The Banff Television Foundation is the management organization for some of the world’s leading television and new media industry events including the Banff Television Festival (June 9 – 14, 2002), the World Congress of History Producers (October 20 – 23, 2002), the World Congress of Science Producers (October 24 – 27, 2002), and the Alliance Atlantis Banff Television Executive Program (November 8 – 15, 2002). The Foundation’s mission is to inspire innovation in content creation, celebrate excellence in programming in Canada and around the world, and provide learning and business opportunities for creators and industry professionals.
