CommunicAsia, EnterpriseIT and BroadcastAsia2006 brings the latest technologies to Indonesia’s IT and broadcast industry
Jakarta – April 13, 2006
– Global event CommunicAsia2006 returns alongside BroadcastAsia and EnterpriseIT, to bring the latest digital technologies to Indonesian visitors come June 20 to 23.

According to International Data Corp (IDC), new technologies entering the telecommunications marketplace are redefining the industry. The telecom services market in Asia Pacific (excluding Japan) is projected to exceed US$170 billion, posting a growth of seven percent compared to last year. The research house adds that this growth is likely to come from VoIP, broadband and 3G services.

Featuring key technologies, world vendors and thought leaders, CommunicAsia provides a comprehensive offering of technologies as they integrate IT, communications, broadcasting and enterprise solutions. Some of the key technologies addressed on the show floor include mobile entertainment, 3G, VoIP, NGN, WiMAX, information security and embedded technologies.

A key step taken by the new Indonesian cabinet towards building an Information Society was to establish the Department of Communication and Information Technology. Another key initiative taken is to improve the national ICT-industry regulatory and policy framework, including the implementation of standards to ensure that national efficiency is created and benefits players who intend to be part of the long -term growth of the Indonesian ICT industry. The effort also promotes transparency evoking stronger confidence for both local and international investors.

With a framework conducive for the growth of the ICT industry in Indonesia in place, CommunicAsia and EnterpiseIT provides a highly relevant platform for Indonesian companies and visitors to forge partnerships and joint ventures with international businesses.
The event will feature 21 international group pavilions including Thailand, US, Korea, the European Union and China among others. An Indonesian pavilion led by the Ministry of Industry will also be showcasing Indonesia’s ICT capabilities to the world.

Indonesian companies taking part at the event include PT Telekomunikasi Indonesia and Pacific Wave Telecommunication.

CommunicAsia will also showcase products and services from the most influential world vendors and operators, including Ericsson, Huawei, ZTE, NTT Docomo, LG, Lucent, Motorola, Samsung, Siemens and Sony Ericsson.

Mr Victor Wong, project director of CommunicAsia and EnterpriseIT said, “CommunicAsia alone is the most established ICT show in Asia, and the ideal platform to launch and showcase new technologies and services to the world that will transform the way we live. With Indonesia’s ICT roadmap and framework in place, CommunicAsia is a highly relevant event to the needs of the Indonesian ICT industry.”

The focus of the high-powered CommunicAsia Summit this year turns towards mobile applications, broadband and next generation networks as the industry’s three key growth areas Some of the top-notch speakers include Andrew Sukawaty, CEO and Chairman of Inmarsat, Joseph Anton Aliagas, CEO of Arena Mobile Music, Skuli Mogensen, CEO & Founder of OZ, Craig Wilson, IBM’s Asia Pacific Director for Digital Media and Telecommunications, Craig Farrill, CEO of Kodiak Networks and Thorsten Heinz, Siemens CTO.

Held alongside CommunicAsia is BroadcastAsia2006, the 11th International Digital Multimedia & Entertainment Technology Exhibition & Conference. Themed “Digital: The Journey Forward”, the new theme embodies BroadcastAsia’s positioning to embrace the digital revolution and constantly ‘go forward’ by staying relevant to the industry.

Indonesia has taken a higher profile than normal on the regional scale with the announcement in 2005 of the first film and television co-operation agreements with Singapore. With a lively domestic production market and strong competition between free-TV broadcasters, the need for the latest production and broadcasting solutions remains important.

To answer the sourcing needs of the Indonesian market, top names in the industry will be displaying the best at the show. Industry leaders that have signed up include Tandberg Television, Harris Corporation, Nokia, Scopus Network Technologies, DVB – Digital Video Broadcasting, Barco, Quantel, Qualcomm and Conax. SES expects more industry players to come on board in the next few months, what with the positive outlook in the global entertainment and multimedia industry.

Adding to the show’s international appeal are nine group pavilions from countries such as China, France, Germany, Italy, Korea, Spain, Singapore, the UK and the USA.

Indonesian companies that will be exhibiting at BroadcastAsia2006 include PT Infotech and PT Creative Sarana. Over 931 discerning Indonesian visitors thronged the halls of BroadcastAsia last year, and more are expected to visit the show this year.

“With the entire integrated workflow process addressed at BroadcastAsia, Indonesian visitors will find that every technological solution in the entire value chain can be seen on the show floor”, said Jackson Yeoh, Project Director, Singapore Exhibition Services.

This year’s show will also include technology highlights that focus on the latest in internet protocol television (IPTV), broadcasting to handhelds, video on demand, personal video recording, digital audio broadcasting (DAB), computer graphics and animation, and high-definition (HD) technology.

Complementing the BroadcastAsia2006 exhibition will be a series of enriching and in-depth conference presentations and demonstrations, panel discussions and master classes.

Mr. Chua will be delivering his presentation at the Interactive TV session, and is co-presented by SES, with the Association of the French interactive television Developers, Publishers and Service Providers (AFDESI) and the Asia-Pacific Institute for Broadcasting Development (AIBD).
