It's been a tough year for television in Hong Kong.

Satcasters MGM Gold and NBC Asia succumbed to the turbulent economy and a dearth of interest in their products, while Robert Chua's China Entertainment TV (CETV) operates from month to month, looking for a white knight.

Beleaguered broadcaster Asia Television Ltd. (ATV) got new owners after a frenzy of speculation about its future. And the diving local stock market exacted its toll on Television Broadcasts Ltd. (TVB), the other terrestrial license holder.
